Opens New Rehearsal Space
After working with Martha Goode for a little over a year with MTWorks, a small but thriving theatre company in NYC's Off-Off Broadway Community, I was thrilled when she asked me to join her staff at Night Owl Studios. Martha is a fantastic sound designer, so it is no surprise to me that she is a partner in such a high quality studio. Martha's main objective in hiring me—I was soon to find out—was to gain my help in opening her new Rehearsal Room. This beautiful 12 X 20 room is complete with exposed brick and picture windows that fill the room with natural light. I was thrilled to find that her plan for the room was to offer it to the theater community at a GREATLY reduced rate from other Midtown and Chelsea studios. It is a quiet floor and this room is separate from the rest of the studio, which is soundproofed. There is a small lobby, perfect for a holding area for auditions, or simply relaxing in between scenes. The next step is to get it Equity approved fro rehearsals—and we are jumping on that this week!
As it is only one room—and offered at a steal for $15 an hr.—I expect it to be booked quickly. Our ultimate goal is to entice those teachers who need to downsize or find more economical space in these times into using our studio for daytime classes. And of course nothing would please me more than to offer the space in the evenings to Off-Off Broadway productions for their rehearsals. This space is ideal as it has a full kitchen on the floor! In addition, we are opening out piano room during the day for lessons and rehearsals as well as a third room for acoustic guitar lessons etc.
If your interested in checking out the space, Call Night Owl Studios
